Message from Scholarships Office of the Registry

Dear Students,

1. Scholarships open to first-year students
These scholarships are now calling for applications from first-year students (any discipline; local and non-local acceptable):

i. Eliot Hall Memorial Scholarship
ii. HKU Foundation Scholarship
iii. John Swire Donor Scholarships
iv. Koo Shui Ting Memorial Scholarships
v. Robert H.N. Ho Scholarships
vi. The George William Hong Choy Memorial Scholarship (applicable for graduates of Diocesan Boy’s School; Wah Yan HK College; Chan Shu Kui Memorial School; Delia Memorial School.)

Eligibility:
– A minimum of GPA at 3.0 or equivalent in the first semester of 2014-15;
– Outstanding achievements in extra-curricular activities;
– Active participation in community services; and
– Financial need will be considered.

Value of each scholarship: ranging from HK$4,000 – HK$42,100

Application deadline: January 30, 2015, 5:00 pm

Application method: Interested students should submit the completed application form (click here) to the Scholarships Office by email (awards@hku.hk).

Nomination of the above scholarships will be made on a competitive basis and awarded by the respective Selection Committees.

2. Evergreen Scholarships for Arts Students
Mr. Lam Sum-Chee, a HKU History alumnus, generously established a scholarship fund to support arts and humanities students to pursue undergraduate study.

Targets: First-year students studying BA or its relevant joint-degree programmes

Eligibility:
– Outstanding public examination results for admission to HKU; and
– With proven financial need.

Value of each scholarship: Full-year tuition fee (i.e. HK$42,100) and hall residence fee

Application deadline: January 30, 2015, 11:59 pm

Application method: Interested students should submit the application on-line via HKU Portal (Self Service -> Other Self Service -> Application for Awards).

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview with the Selection Panel in February/March 2015.

3. Future Global Leaders (FGL) Programme 2015
With an aim of creating a global network of exemplary young leaders, the FGL programme selects high achievers internationally and support them with the following:

– a 20-day field-based leadership development course at Wyoming’s Rocky Mountains;
– funded internships in New York, Paris, London, and Hong Kong; and
– targeted mentorship from high level professional

Last year, 22 outstanding students from universities in the US and France were selected as FGL fellows.

Target Students: First-generation university students* who are in Year 1 and are aspired to achieve the highest levels of leadership in their field on a global scale and have a track record of academic excellence
