HKU-Common Purpose Becoming Future Ready programme will be offered in Jakarta, Indonesia this winter to enable students to get a head start on and a boost to their employability. This 3-week programme will allow students to engage with each other and leaders from organisations in different countries, to better understand and develop the skills and mindsets to become ready for the future world of work. Students will delve into the five key skills – problem solving, agility, collaboration, communication and resilience, that employers today are looking from new graduates and through working on a real-life project with an organisation, have the chance to put these skills to practice.

Through choosing an industrial area of interest from 2 rapidly-growing ones of FinTech and e-Commerce, students will work in smaller groups with their peers to come up with ideas in response to an organisational challenge set by their chosen organisation. Leaders joining us from these industries will come from a diverse range of sectors including community-based/non-profit, global corporates and commercial organisations to share how these skills play out in real-life scenarios through their personal stories and experiences

The programme will enable up to 40 HKU students to

  • explore organisational practices related to online marketing, social media management, Fin Tech and e-Commerce
  • learn 5 critical skills that will set them on the right path for their future success
  • develop the growth mind-set that will help them thrive in their careers
  • unlock their competitive edge to set them apart from the crowd
