DEI-HKU Winter Experience in Agra, India

The programme enables 10 HKU students to visit Dayalbagh Educational Institute (DEI) for two weeks on December 28, 2018 – January 11, 2019. The broad theme of the visit is to experience an innovative and utopian community life of Dayalbagh, the history and heritage of Agra and surrounding cities, and the art and culture of India.

Joined by students from DEI who visited HKU in June 2018, the selected HKU students will engage in academic activities as well as out-of-classroom learning opportunities on the campus of DEI. Students from the two institutions will take part in Indian art and fashion classes and gain hands-on experience in serving local community in Agra.

Applications are now invited from students from any majors and years of study. Please submit an application here on or before October 5, 2018.

DEI-HKU Summer Experience: “The Dynamism of Hong Kong: Nature, Culture, and the City”

Dayalbagh Educational Institute (DEI) is an educational institution located at Dayalbagh in city of Taj Mahal, Agra, India. The institute has been given deemed university status by the University Grants Commission of India in 1981.

The inaugural DEI-HKU summer experience will be themed on “The Dynamism of Hong Kong: Nature, Culture, and the City” and take place on June 3-15 in Hong Kong. Activities such as map making, snapshots, short writings, drawings, and mobile phone video production will allow students from HKU and DEI to exchange ideas on their understanding and perception of Hong Kong through first-person experience.

The programme will admit 10-12 students from HKU. They will pair up with DEI students to collaborate on a mapping project of their experience of Hong Kong. HKU students who take part in this programme will have priority to join the winter exchange programme to India on December 24, 2018 – January 5, 2019 to experience an innovative and utopian community life of Dayalbagh, the history and heritage of Agra and surrounding cities, and the art and culture of India.

Applications are now invited from students from all majors and years of study who are interested in cultural exchange and who possess good English communication skills. The programme schedule is available here.

The application closing date has been extended to 12:00 noon, May 10, Thursday. Applications received during the extended period will be reviewed on a first-come-first-served basis until the quota is filled.
