Recent MOOC Developments at HKU
The HKU Massive Open Online Courses initiative continues its momentum. In addition to the successful conclusion of the HKU01x: Epidemics course, the e-learning Pedagogical Support Unit is gearing up work with the course teams on two more MOOCs to be launched next year: HKU02.1x: The Search for Vernacular Architecture of Asia, and HKU03x: Humanity and Nature in Chinese Thought. A few other recent developments also include:
- Visit by Professor Richard Levin, Coursera CEO, and Mariel Reed, Coursera Partnership Manager
- Visit by Kathy Pugh, edX Vice President of Education Services, and Remy Mansfield edX Education Program Manager
- Presentation by Professor Ricky Kwok, Chairman of the HKU MOOC Working Group, on the landscape, issues and opportunities with MOOCs
To provide staff members and students with a better understanding of how teaching and learning can be supported by the use of technologies, Information Technology Services (ITS) organized a two-day Teaching and Learning Showcase on October 14 and 15, 2014 and a Seminar on October 15. Moodle and Panopto Hands-on Training Workshops
