Design and Piloting of three “English in the Discipline” Courses for History, Music and Linguistics Students

Abstract

The aim of the project was to develop three 6-credit courses to embed English skills in specific disciplines, namely History, Linguistics and Music. The project was conducted in collaboration between the Centre for Applied English Studies (CAES) and the said disciplines housed in the School of Humanities, Faculty of Arts. The project was instrumental in developing intensive English enhancement support for the 3 disciplines consisting of new syllabi and materials for the new 4-year curriculum. The materials were finalized with the incorporation of feedback received in a piloting phase.
